About THE BLUE

Nestled between ancient smugglers cottages on the harbour and Fish Quay, just a few yards from the beach 'The Blue' (as it is affectionately known) is one of the quaintest pubs you may ever come across.

Situated in the picturesque fishing village of Polperro, The Blue is steeped in history dating back to the 18th century. This charming pub, with its low-beamed ceilings, wooden floors, and a welcoming open fire, has long been a central part of the village's life. Originally frequented by fishermen and smugglers, the inn reflects Polperro's storied past, when the village was a hub for smuggling operations during the 18th and early 19th centuries. The pub's name is likely derived from the maritime signal flag "Blue Peter," which indicates a ship's readiness to set sail.

The Blue Peter Inn has managed to retain much of its original character, offering visitors an authentic glimpse into Cornwall's coastal heritage. Over the years, it has become a beloved spot for both locals and tourists, known for its traditional Cornish ales, hearty pub food, and lively atmosphere. The inn is also a hub for local events, live music, and community gatherings, preserving its role as a focal point in Polperro's social life. Today, the Blue Peter continues to be a cherished landmark, embodying the rich history and enduring spirit of this quaint Cornish village.

Due to our location at the end of the harbour and quayside, we do not have any customer parking available.  From the car park at the top of the village, you can either enjoy a picturesque stroll through the village or catch the electric tram.

Charging points for those of you with electric cars can be found in the Millpool carpark in Looe.

There are also regular train and bus networks to Polperro from Plymouth, Looe, Pelynt, Liskeard and surrounding areas. Check out www.traveline.info to plan your car free journey.
